This city was founded in 437BC. It was also a city of great strategic and commercial importance. Amphipolis commanded the only crossing place on the southern reaches until 424BC in which Amphipolis surrended to the Spartans. To the Romans Amphipolis was the capital of Macedonoia. Amphipolis is featured in the episodes Sins of the Past and Rembering Nothing.
Potedaea is the land of Gabrielle. Potidaea is less than a 100 miles from Amphipolis. It was a corinth colony founded in 600BC. It revolted against Athens in 432BC but was retaken in 430 after a siege. Potidaea may have been destroyed in the Olynthian war. Potidaea is featured in the episodes Sins of the Past and the Prodigal.
